WANG.

Vintage Silk Shirt
Topshop lacey jeans
Topshop Jolie Heels
Primark Belt

This is just a little quickie of yesterdays outfit.
I forgot I had this shirt, I went off it for a while but I dug it out yesterday and channeled a little bit of Wang with the button undooing. I'm off shopping in Oxford Street tomorrow & i'm going on the hunt for a collarless shirt. A nice crisp white cotton Grandad style is what i'm after, I think Zara might come up with the goods. I brought my boyfriend one from Asos a while ago & much to his disapproval I want to be matchy matchy with him like a couple of grandads together.
What a treat it will be.

ZARA KNIT

Primark Double Pouch Bag
Topshop Coin Necklace

I literally can't believe i'm wearing a thick wool jumper in the middle of August. Outrageous.
Although I am not complaining because I am absolutely in love with it. I might even go as far to say it's my favorite piece of knitwear that I have ever owned. Ever! A bold statement I know, but It just ticks all my boxes; it's majorly oversized, it's got a high crew neck, & it's fluffy without being itchy. It also comes in a couple of other colours, I'm really tempted by the sand one!
I can see myself living in this over the next few months.

I've also got a bit of a thing about the 'hair tuck'. I don't think that's a thing, but it's what i'm calling it. You know when you pull a jumper over your head and it tucks all the back of your hair in. I love that.

THE DUSTER COAT : DAYTIME TO EVENING

Daytime
Weekday Sweater
Topshop Jeans
Primark Double Pouch bag

Evening
Vero Moda Leather Trousers
Vero Moda Croc Clutch Bag
Jimmy Choo Heels

So I think the duster coat is probably the most versatile trend for Autumn/Winter & this Glamorous one is not only my favorite that I've found, but it's the most affordable! It's a really beautifully made crepe fabric & I love the cut, the sleeve length is so perfect! It comes in a couple of different colours to... which i'm really tempted by!
To show you the versatility of it, I've styled it up how I would wear it in the daytime & in the evening. I'm not really a dress kind of person, I haven't owned a body con dress in years! So when I go out I like to be quite casual, but add some heels, a clutch, lipstick & generally try not to look like I've been dragged through a hedge.
I don't think I've shown you my Jimmy Choo's before. My boyfriend brought them for me for my birthday a few years ago  & they're my favorite shoe in the world. Although to be honest, they do spend most of the time in their box because i'm so scared of scuffing them, which I did the first time I wore them. Eek!!
So to sum up, I think the duster coat is certainly the best investment piece at the moment & i'm certainly planning to grab a few more for next season.

CULOTTES.

I'm not going to beat around the bush. I bloody love a culotte.

All my favorite bloggers, designers and celebrities are culotting it up (that's not a thing)  & I can't get enough of them at the moment. They're just so chic, whether you team them with knits, trainers or tailoring... it all works for me!  My boyfriend on the other hand, thinks they are the the worst thing he's ever seen, but I am not one to shy away from a man repelling item. Saggy bottom joggers & massive metal statement necklaces are a couple of his main hates that I continue to wear. Luckily for him, I haven't managed to get my hands on any culottes yet, although I think it's only a matter of time. I saw a gorgeous thick pair when I was out with my mum & she told me she had an exact original pair in late seventies. WHY DOES SHE NEVER KEEP THESE THINGS FOR ME! She's dropped into conversations before about the amazing pair of Levi dungarees or chunky roll neck complete with cable knit and bobbles that she used to own. Talk about rubbing salt in the wounds!

I've picked a few of my favorite high street culottes in key styles. We've got the print, the burgundy, the classic tailored and the white. I literally love the Topshop printed pair, it's called a 'Babmi' print which makes me want it 100 times more!

HELEN HIRD ILLUSTRATIONS.

Viktor & Rolf
Marc Jacobs Daisy
Giambattista Valli
Rosie HW for balmain
Zara
Cara Delivigne for Burberry

So if you read my blog regularly you will know I am becoming a freelance fashion illustrator and sole trader.
I thought i'd give you a little update and show you a few pieces of recent work. The website is coming along really well, theres my brand new logo up at the top there... eee exciting, but also a tad scary! I'm pretty clueless about the business side of things, but i'm making slow progress, emphasis on the slow. I'm going to give it all a jolly good old go though. I've never ever known what I want to do in a life as a career, which is so frustrating, but I've been illustrating for a few years now in my spare time. So I thought why not turn something I love doing into more than a hobby. So here it goes!

My website is going to basically be an online portfolio, but I am also going to be taking blogger commissions, as it's something I have been asked about quite a bit, as well as selling a few prints. Ill let you know when everything is up and running, and if you are interested in having a piece done i'd be more than happy for you to drop me an email.

These are all Instagram snaps, so certainly not the best quailty, but you get the ol' gist!
