ULLR SKADE

Overzized Crop Tee  - c/o Ullr & Skade | Camel Coat  - Missguied | Farleigh Mom Jeans  - Asos

I got a beautifully wrapped parcel this week from one of my favourite brands Ullr & Skade, what an Easter treat!
I wear the men's sweaters at the moment for a chilled out androgynous look for Sunday brunches and coffee dates, which I love, but they're in the process of expanding a women's wear section as well. What a dream! From what I've seen and heard about the collection from Nick, their creative director, it will still have the same clean crisp vibe with their trademark French slogans, but with the female figure in mind. I'm really looking forward to seeing what they produce.
I've always been a fan of a minimal garment with a chic little slogan, it's just a little bit different from a basic. Although lately slogan tops seem to be either all "Boston University 1979", which means nothing to me, a cheap looking "I woke up like this" vest or something which includes the word "bae".. *sick in the mouth*. Not my cup of tea. "Fais le premier pas" or "take the first step" as we know it, is a lot more up my street. There's something about French writing that looks instantly cool and a little bit mysterious (if like my you know no French other than Bonjour)... and when you look into the meanings it's even cooler.
At the moment, the Ullr  & Skade sweaters and this tee are a staple part of my Winter wardrobe to layer with thick mom jeans and long line coats... but I cant wait until the sun comes out I cant dust off the levi's to wear with this oversized tee. Nick and I also chatted about the prospect of some t-shirt dresses, which would go perfectly with a pair of Birkenstocks and a boxy leather back pack. Roll on Summer and the women's collection!

HELEN HIRD ILLUSTRATIONS BLOGGER PROMOTION!

Photos via www.helenhird.co.uk

If you follow me on Instagram  or have been a follower of my blog for a while you will know I'm also a fashion illustrator as well as a blogger. Other than dogs, stroking dogs and kissing dogs, illustrating is my number one passion. I love nothing more than waking up early and sitting down with a coffee ready for a day of painting.
I don't have the luxury of being able to illustrate full time yet and have to work at my retail job most days. So this website has been a long time coming for me. After months of hard work and the help of my good friend Steve at Pud Design, my brand new website HelenHird.co.uk has just launched. I'm so excited to get the ball rolling  and to be able to promote myself fully now with a solid platform.

To celebrate the launch, I am offering a whopping 40% discount to all my lovely fellow bloggers out there who would like a personalised fashion illustration. Whether it be to use on your business cards, banners and Youtube Channels or even as just a personalised piece of art you can frame. It's a great opportunity to bag yourself something special and give me a hand in promoting my website (and have the luxury of working from home with 30 dogs.)
All my work is done completely by hand with water colour, pen and buckets of love.

For more information and to discuss your personalised illustration, just drop me an email with the link to your blog to info@helenhird.co.uk and we can make a start!

Promotion on until the end of April for up to 30 Bloggers within the UK

TRIANGL GIGI BIKINI

GiGi Bikini in Red Velvet  - c/o Triangl Swimwear

Can we just take a minute to appreciate how gorgeous this Triangl Gigi bikini is?
I'm guessing it's called Gigi after the Goddess that is Gigi Hadid and they've got this pretty spot on. If she was a bikini, this would be her. Beautiful, sassy and sexy.
This bikini comes in several colours including Lemonello, Californian Coconut and strawberry shortcake. So there's one for every gal. I went for the red velvet because it's such a summery, classically gorgeous colour. I'm not going to lie, I also had "which colour would make my tan look most banging?" at the for front of my mind. A hot red was definitely the obvious choice.
Aside from colours, it's such an amazing shape. I'm 26, although I'm not old I'm no Spring chicken anymore either. I no longer have my 20 year old figure (god rest her soul) but this bikini made me feel like I had it back again. The cups are not your regular triangle shape. They are very central, which gives you a cheeky bit of boobage on each side and is super flattering. The bottoms also kind of perk your bum up, meaning I can skip the squats for an extra day or two a week. Cheers Triangl!

The sizes for these bikinis do come up quite specifically and the chances are you might not be the size that you'd immediately go for. So it's always worth using the handy live chat on the Triangl website. They will ask you a few questions and help you get the perfect size for you. If it's coming from the other side of the world you want to get it right!

Just as a side point, I'd also ask about the customs charges whilst on the live chat. I brought a bikini last year and was a little bit caught out by this. So it's definitely worth asking so you're clear on any extra charges other than shipping.

Now roll on summer!!

SPRING HAS SPRUNG

Today it really does feel like Spring has sprung. When I woke up the sun was shining in my window, the birds were singing & I shaved my legs for the first time in months (lucky Josh). I decided to wear a dress for this momentous occasion... all be it with the thickest, most blanket-eque cardigan I have. I wore a dress none the less! Next step is to bring the Birkenstocks out of retirement, then it really will be summer!

SLEEPY SUNDAYS

We all know what it's like on a Sunday when you have to go out but you had a few shandys on the Saturday night. You can probably tell by the horrendously tired eyes and unimpressed look that I was not feeling quite tip top. Lets me honest, when you're a bit 'unwell' no one wants to be dressing in some super cool looking outfit that either gives you a wedgie, makes you cold or is too tight on that fragile feeling stomach. Queue oversized knits and comfy jeans. For me, my favourite style jean are the Asos Farleigh. They're described as a bit of a mom fit and are the perfect mix of skinny jeans meets comfy relaxed jean. They're also really high waisted which is a winner for me.

I promise i'll bring you a bit for of a style conscious outfit next time!
