VALENTINES OUTFIT

This Valentines day my boyfriend is cooking for me at home... so this is an example of what I will not be wearing. It might be more a case of jogging bottoms and grey tee. Lucky old Josh! Maybe I will make a bit more of an effort, reading that back it does sound bad. If I was going out though, this is what I would ideally like to wear. I must confess... I struggled to put something together. I'm feeling a bit uninspired by the great British high street at the moment, which I hate to admit! Maybe it's just that funny time of year when we are all a bit over outwear but it's way too cold for spring clothes. I'll go with that.

I have always been a huge fan of pairing baby pink with hot red, and Valentines day does feel like the perfect occasion to wack out my fave colour combo. It feels like it shouldn't work, but for me it is the perfect juxtaposition of girly and sexy, a match made in heaven! This post is just riddled with Valentines vocabulary. I do apologise. I will never say 'sexy' again.

P.s, How amazing is this LaLa Land card! They also have a Dane Bowers one which I really want, but alas I only have one boyfriend.

WHITE WASH

Zara Sweater | Vintage Levi jeans | Topshop Shoes | Asos Sunnies

We all know I love a thrifty bargain. So imagine my delight when I found these vintage pair of washed denim Levi's in a Charity shop, for... wait for it... £1!! ONE POUND! ONE OF MY POUNDS! In the wise words of Peter Andre, this is insania.

I think I have dressed myself in all light colours today subconsciously to try and make myself look more tanned. I hate this time of year. I feel translucent but refuse to use sun beds or fake tan. I don't care what anyone says, I feel SO much better with a tan, but it's the sort of thing that only a good old bit of natural sunlight can cure. Oh dear.

DOWN TIME.

I absolutely love having a day off to myself, as I'm sure most people do! I really struggle to not do anything or sit around and watch TV on my days off, I don't even ever really lay in... I like to get up and be productive. Don't get me wrong, I love nothing more than a bit of This Morning whilst I'm painting, I find Philip Schofield great company and I'm not even going to make a secret of the fact that I think he's an absolute babe.
This is todays outfit for down time to myself. I had a driving lesson first thing, then painted all morning for a bridal commission, played with my pup in the sunshine, did a bit of blogging (obvs) and I'm off to the old cinema for date night tonight. Perfect day!
I was also greeted by these Asos beauties in the post this morning. I thought my slip on phase had passed, but when I spotted these pointed camel delights on the 'new in' page I couldn't help but order them. They're even better in real life to!

FASHION ILLUSTRATION : BLOGGER EDIT

So this post is a little bit different, but if you have read my blog for a while or follow me on Instagram you will know that I am also a fashion illustrator.
I thought I would share with you a few of my recent illustrations for some of my very favourite bloggers... Amy from The Little Magpie, Charlotte from Lurch Hound Loves,  Hannah from A Fashion Fix & Megan from Pages By Megan.

Illustrating is my main passion (aside from animals & cheese) & I am always looking to work with new people and brands... I also do a cheeky little blogger discount. So if it's anything you'd be interested in for yourself (for business cards, a website header or even a gift or personal memento) or on behalf of a brand then feel free to email me at Info@HelenHird.co.uk.

I also do bridal illustrating... I find it's a good way to channel my wedding obsession! I was reflecting on some of my favourites bridal looks from 2014 the other day, and my ultimate gown had to be from the insanely chic and gorgeous Olivia Palermo. Here's an illustration I put together of her cream cashmere jumper, tulle embellished skirt and statement cobalt blue heels...

ZARA SALE BANGERS.

Today was one of those nice cold but sunny days, & it was also my day off. I didn't realise it at the time, but my outfit (jumper & trousers) are both Zara sale picks... although I brought the knitted trousers full price. Gutted. I love this jumper, so much in fact that I also brought it in white. The neckline is so up my street & at £19.99 it's an absolute steal. I think it also comes in a hot pink colour, but I think the only time I have ever worn pink is when I ran in Race For Life, so I gave that one a miss.
You might also notice the debut of the newest member of my family in this post! His name is Ted & he is a treasure.

MY BEST FRIENDS WEDDING.

My best friend is getting married in a couple of weeks. I'm really excited for her, but also very scared that I am now at that age where my friends are getting married and sprouting out children. I can barely boil an egg properly and can just about manage to look after myself from day to day. So it's all very daunting! It's going to be a very small and intimate occasion, so rather than a dress I have gone for a smart trousers and top combo... also very weather appropriate as I do not deal well with the cold! I'm a big fan of these Asos trousers... my boyfriend not so much. When I showed him the outfit I believe his words were that they gave me a "long flat bum". (He is all about the 90's Britney hipser jeans.) He did then say they made me look skinny though, so I will take the latter comment. What do boys know anyway.

JANUARY WISHES.

So here's my little January wish list... not that I will be able to afford any of it, January is proving to be tough on the old purse strings.
The H&M Jacket is a bit of a guilty please of mine. It's something I feel like I really shouldn't like, but it reminds me a bit of the stalk printed bomber jacket that Mary Berry wore on the Bake Off a little while ago. I was pretty obsessed with that bomber. I think with on oversized white tee, some ripped denim skinnies and trainers it would look really cool. I feel like I definitely need it now.

ASOS SALE TREATS.

It was rainy and grey today, but it was time for me to get back on the blogging wagon after Christmas & new year... so I ventured inside for a change.
The sunnies & cardigan are my two Asos sale purchases. I was very restrained, especially after having a few shandys Christmas day & adding an obscene amount of things to my basket. I have had a hankering for these sunnies for ages though, so when they went into the sale I was full of glee & didn't hesitate to clickety click these bad boys all the way to my front door. I love the Miu Miu-esque mottled tortoise shell and the gold bridge... I just need some sun so I can wear them out now! This bag has also been something I have been lusting over for a while, you might recognise it from a few of my wish list posts. I actually didn't but this myself as I could just not justify buying another bag, but it was a prezzie from my friend Mollie. Mollie if you are reading this you are very precious to me & I love your eyebrows more than I love cheese.

What were your favourite sale bargains?

2014 OUTFIT ROUND UP.

So it's 2015. Can you Believe it?!
Here's a few of my outfits from throughout last year. I think my favourite two posts were the ones with my Missguided Kimberley Camel coat, I love that coat & I think the outfits I paired it with are the sort of things I feel most comfortable wearing.
I wonder what this year will bring & what my outfit review will look like this time next year. Who knows!
Do you have any new years resolutions? I'm not one for 'resolutions', but I have a few things I want to do this year. Most of all I want to pass my driving test & I am joining the gym again this week. I'm also getting my teeth done a bit, I've wanted them done for ages & this year I am biting the bullet (excuse the pun). I also want to do a couple of wedding fairs with my bridal illustrations... but that's not so much a resolution, more of an ambition for the year I suppose.
Anyway, apologies for the quite bland sounding post. I've got the post Christmas blues. My family have all gone, it's grey outside and I am properly back to work tomorrow. I need a holiday!!!!
