5 THINGS I LOVE ABOUT SHEIN

Striped Dress  - c/o Shein | Faux Leather Jacket - Topshop | Straw Basket Bag - H&M (similar) | Buckle Mules - Mango

I've mentioned it before in my posts, but I used to be a little reluctant about ordering things from sites abroad like Shein, that have super affordable clothes. Now, however, after having a few item from there I am a firm convert. These are the reasons why -

There are pages & pages of things to choose from

... & I mean pages. We all know how much I love Asos, well this is like a new go to place for me, if Asos can't come up with the goods. I shop online so much, I very rarely actually go to the shops now. I think working in retail has taken the joy of actual real life shopping away from me. Some might say I shop online too much, I may or may not check my favourite sites everyday, and I hate it when there's nothing new to see. The 'new in' page is full of the same Bardot tops you saw 4 days ago. With Shein there's always something new and I can scroll until my heart is content while I watch Hollyoaks. Like at the moment I'm looking for a dress to wear to the races... there's 10 pages to scroll through on Shein, plenty of items for me to be fussy with and find "the one".

Everything is super affordable

I know I've mentioned that already, but for someone like me it's a big factor. I'm in my second year of setting up my business, I have bills to pay and food shopping to do. It's not all Net a Porter & Cos for me unfortunately, but as I said, I love to shop. The prices being so affordable means that I can shop away and the bank balance doesn't take too much off a hit. For example, this dress I'm wearing was only 10 bloody dollars! $10!! That's like £7. That's a coffee and a muffin... I know what I'd rather have.

The quality is good

Now this was my main concern when first shopping at Shein, but I needn't worry. The first thing I had from there was this gingham top, on the website it looked really nice but being my first time ordering & it being so cheap I wasn't expecting too much. If you read my post about it, I was so pleasantly surprised when it arrived. It's the nicest poplin fabric and could literally be a high end high street piece. Everything I've ordered since I've been really impressed with to. Reservations have officially vanished!

There is always an offer on

... & who doesn't love a bloody good promo code, I know I do. I'm one of those people its targeted at, and by jove does it work. "20% off shoes you say? I'll take 7 pairs"... that's me.
At the moment they have $5, $15 and $40 off certain amounts. Don't be put off by ordering in dollars either, I always used to be a bit funny about it, I don't know why now. Good ol' Paypal sorts you out and converts it for you anyway!

They have damn good dupes

Good dupes, but without being fakes. There's a huge difference for me. There's being the style of a designer bag, and then the ones you get on holiday in Turkey that are exact copies with the logo that slightly altered. It might say Cucci instead of Gucci or some shit like that. Some of my favourite dupes they do are Chloe style ones, look at this bad boy! I haven't got round to ordering a bag yet for myself, but it seems the quality is just as good as the clothing. One of my favourite fellow bloggers, Chelcie Nicole, did a great review on her JW Anderson dupe from Shein. It was only a snip of the price at £17, saving you a whopping £1078 if you were to buy the real deal! You could go to marbs for that... for 2 weeks! Maybe all inclusive, who knows.

Anyway, it might be worth mentioning I have not been paid to write this post. I do collaborate with Shein now and then, but these really are all my own views... I'm just a firm fan and wanted to share my new found love with you.

Happy Shopping.

POM POM SANDALS

Top - H&M | Jeans - Asos | Lace up Sandals c/o - Laundry B

When these sandals arrived in the post, I opened up the shoe box, held them in my hands & had visions of me strolling around a market in Morocco wearing them. It would be like 32 degrees, I'd be dressed in drapey, floaty short garments & I'd have an iced tea in my hand. Actually, the first time I wore them was quite the opposite. It was 7pm, it had been raining all day and I was stood in the road outside my house. I then went in for a dinner of potato waffles and peas. Not quite the idyllic first outing I had planned for them. Never mind. I'm really keeping my fingers crossed for some sun so I can at least half fulfil my dreams for them. It feels like this winter has gone on forever. I'm still in a jumper as we speak, but lets just take a minute to dream of long hot days & holidays and hope it's just around the corner. I'm planning a holiday for the end of August and I really want some more footwear like this. These particular ones are from one of my favourite online boutiques, Laundry B. I've blogged about some of my clothes I have from there before. They're really great for trend pieces, like ruffles, flared trousers and poplin tops, at good prices. It's one of my go to places for bits like this.

I've picked a few other pom pom related shoes that I'm currently lusting over. After this, I'm literally off into town before work to see I can pick up those river Island bad boys. I had a massive tax bill through yesterday... so what better way to cheer myself up (& consequently add to the problem)

BEING A MAN REPELLER

Bag - Primark | Jersey Culottes - Asos | Jumper - Zara | Mules - Mango

I am not fit. I wear clothes that are so gross to guys; man repelling, saggy, shapeless, booby covering things. I am a man repeller. It's not something I'm sad about neither proud of. It's just something I'm aware of. Don't get me wrong, probably until the age of 18 I was very much trying impress the boys. I probably stank of Dolce & Gabana 'Light Blue' with a hint of desperation. When I used to go to the school disco I would wear one of those Punky Fish tops with the rips on the back, which stayed at the back while I left home. Then as soon as I walked through those school doors after hours (5pm), I would turn that bad boy round and have the rips at the front. Very inappropriate looking back. Then, when I started going out at 18, I was all about a Topshop bodycon dress. The shorter & tighter the better. I would totter past the bar in heels trying to catch the eye of the guy I fancied like a little new born deer walking on ice. Luckily, this stage only lasted a few months. I don't know what changed in me, but how I dress & what I dress for have massively changed since those good ol' days. I have said it before, but I take it as much more of a compliment if another girl thinks I look nice, or likes what I'm wearing. I'm definitely a girl that dresses for other girls now (& myself, obviously) rather than guys. If my boyfriend could dress me, I'd be in a plain white (probably tight) V neck vest with hipster Britney style skinny jeans. Unfortunately for him, I'm more MC Hammer than Britney. So I thought whilst shooting this outfit, which is a prime example of what I'm talking about, I'd share with you my top man repelling items of past & present...

Statement Jewellery

Now this is something I was a huge fan of, up until 2 or 3 years ago. I had some bloody beasts of a necklace. They were like chain mail, my armour if you will, and Jesus Christ did my boyfriend hate them. They were silver and started at the top of my neck, cascading down layer after layer, link after link to nearly under my boobs. One night we had been out for dinner, & I remember getting home and he said "please, can you take that thing off now?". To be honest, I'm quite glad I have traded them in for dainty gold chains. Those buggers were heavy.

Culottes

Something I wear right up until this very day, by which I mean I'm wearing them now. I can see why he doesn't like them or why people don't like them in general, especially for me. I'm quite tall, but my legs are not. I have quite short legs for my height, so I'm well aware that these are not the most flattering of garm for me, but by jove are they comfy. They're such a welcome break from jeans and I can hand on heart declare my love for them right now.

High waisted jeans

aka, mom jeans or "flat bum jeans". Need I say anything else? I am all about jeans right up to my belly button that channel my inner 90's Rachel & Monica from friends. In my defence, they're great for guarding against a muffin top.

Hareem pants

Now, these are an item I have many of. By many, I'm talking 6-7 pairs. I tend to keep these for at home. As soon as I get in, I whip my culottes off and switch to these little beauties. My poor boyfriend cannot get a break. I have the swift transition down to such a T, he barely gets chance to see my legs. I'm like a baggy jersey clad mermaid. In our house, we call these trousers my saggy bottoms... i.e, "Have you seen my saggy bottoms anywhere?"

Jumpsuits

Another 'flat bottom' item and I think an all round man repeller, unless maybe its one of those skin tight Bardot Missguided jumpsuits, which quite frankly is not for me. They make me feel like a sausage that has not been pricked, but has been put under the grill and is going to pop at any moment. I'm about those peg leg, baggy jersey jumpsuits, with maybe an elasticated waist to show I do in fact have some sort of shape if he's lucky. I think I have managed to wheedle down to just the one jumpsuit now. Anyone who knows me, will know I go for a wee about 2 times every hour, so these were just becoming more of a hindrance than anything. Especially in the winter when you have to peel the whole bloody thing off and sit there freezing your taa taa's off in a public toilet. Boyfriend- 1 Jumpsuit-0. A small victory for man kind.

"WHATS IN YA ASOS SAVED LIST?"

9/10 times when my friends come round and we're sitting there chatting over a glass of wine and a bar of chocolate, I'll pipe up with "whats is ya Asos saved list then?" and the poor buggers will have to get their phones out and scroll through so I can nod and say "ohh yeah that's nice". I genuinely love looking to see what gems people have stored away in their little Asos treasure chests. In case you couldn't tell, I'm an avid Asos fan/shopper. If I have an occasion its my first port of call. If it need new jeans, a bikini for holiday or a bag to match an outfit its my go to place. So, as I'm always demanding to see everyone else's saved list, I thought it share mine with you. Although this is only 6 of about 40 items. I had to do a bit of cherry picking. It wasn't that hard though, 10 of my items are variations of a basic white tee. A v neck, crew neck, linen mix and boyfriend fit are completely different and equally as important though right? I'm always a bit reluctant to share my precious chosen items. In my head I feel like it's a risky business and my size might sell or out something, but I really don't know who I'm kidding. I don't think enough people read this for me to have to worry about that.

(disclaimer... be warmed, if they do sell out I'm coming for you)
